There are records in several documents including [Hwandankoki] and [Tangigosa] that bean was growing around Yodong Peninsula 3600 years ago. We don¡¯t know exactly the first time when Kongnamul began to be cultivated as our traditional food, but it is presumed to be the era of the Three Kingdoms or the Corea dynasty. Recently, Kongnamul has been spreading over Asian countries such as Japan and China. Also, Kongnamul is used as food even among Korean residents in the United States and Europe. However, although Kongnamul is a vegetable which has been spreading to the world, so far it has not been acknowledged as nutrition food. The reason is that Kongnamul is grown to be less nutritional Yellow Kongnamul under no sunlight. Now, this kind of Kongnamul is cultivated with constant light so that its color becomes green and it is spotlighted as a vegetable and a functional food which has all sort of nutrient abundantly, such as important vitamin, Isoflavone, and Asparaginic acid in our dietary life.

Not only this brand-new Green Kongnamul(hereafter GK) has a better flavor of nut in comparison with usual Yellow Kongnamul, but also it contains all sorts of nutrients abundantly. In addition, it has so many kind of physiological active substance like Asparaginic acid or Isoflavone abundantly that it is recognized as new medicinal food which can liberate afflicted human with diseases of adult people from pains.

Experimental results suggest that Isoflavone, which is contained in bean, can be of sovereign remedy in preventing and curing all sort of cancer (a malignant tumor) and osteoporosis are made clear through in vitro, in vivo or clinical demonstration. It makes Cholesterol and blood sugar lower. Moreover, it is estimated as high value added functional substance especially for preventing and curing diseases of adult people such as gallstone and degenerative arthritis.
