Osram is currently in patent disputes with Samsung and LG for its LED patents. Osram Korea announced that it filed a patent suit against Samsung LED and LG Innotek. Osram alleges that both companies infringed on its white and surface-use LED-related patents and requested the court to order an injunction against such use in Korea. Osram also filed patent invalidity suits against Samsung LED and LG Innotek. Osram alleges that “the patents that Samsung and LG used against Osram do not have any protectable aspects and must be invalidated.” This appears to widen the patent suits between Osram and Korean companies. The disputes started in June.
