South Korea’s Samsung Electronics launched legal actions against AU Optronics Corp and its three customers over alleged LCD patent infringement.
AUO’s customers are Sanyo Electric Co, Acer Inc and BenQ Corp. They have produced TVs and monitors by using LCDs supplied by AUO.
Samsung, the world’s biggest LCD manufacturer, said on June 2 that it filed a complaint on May 31 with the US International Trade Commission (USITC) and the US District Court of Delaware against the Taiwanese company and its customers for allegedly infringing its LCD panel and module-related patents.
The Korean electronics giant also filed a separate complaint in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
