The research team led by Professor Do Kyung Kim with Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST)¡¯s Material Science & Engineering Department announced that it developed ¡®lithium manganese oxide micro nano-wires.¡¯
The spokesperson of the research team explained that this material is capable of producing an output density that is 100 times greater than that of standard anode materials for lithium-ion secondary batteries and that its manufacturing process is simpler and cheaper.
The research results were published in Nano Letters, a prestigious monthly scientific journal that is published by the American Chemical Society. A patent for the new material has been filed in South Korea.
The research team explained that its new recovery can be used in diverse products such as batteries for electric cars.
