Samsung Electronics, the world¡¯s leading LCD maker, put an end to all outstanding legal rows with Sharp for a patent violation of liquid crystal display (LCD) technology.
Samsung on Friday announced a cross-license agreement with Sharp to share patented technologies related to LCD panels and modules.
The two accordingly agreed to drop all patent lawsuits currently ongoing in the U.S., Japan and Europe and allow mutual use of the two companies¡¯ entire LCD panel and module technology.
Samsung Electronics and Sharp has continued legal disputes for the LCD patent infringement since 2007. Sharp sued Samsung first in a Texas court in August, 2007 for violation of its LCD patents and again in a Tokyo court in November.
Samsung, as a response, countersued Sharp in a Texas court in the same month. The U.S. trade body, International Trade Commission (USITC), ruled earlier in November last year that Samsung had infringed patents of LCD technologies developed by Sharp. |
