LG Electronics Inc. settled a lawsuit brought by a British company that accused the world`s third-largest maker of mobile phones of infringing patents for controlling images on computer screens.
Terms of the settlement weren`t disclosed in an order signed on Saturday by U.S. District Judge T. John Ward in Marshall, Texas.
Mondis Technology Ltd., based in London, filed the lawsuit in December 2007 in federal court in Marshall, claiming LG monitors infringe its patents related to ways to adjust the image on the screen using the computer keyboard. Claims are still pending against Taipei-based Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. and its Innolux Display Corp. affiliate, which were also accused of infringement.
Mondis claimed the companies used the inventions "without license or authorization" and sought cash compensation and an order to stop the use of its patented technology.
