| Subject : Dramatic Increase in Filing Patent Applications Regarding Techniques For Reducing CO2 Emission |

The number of patent applications regarding techniques for reducing carbon dioxide emissions has dramatically increased.
According to an announcement made by the Korean Intellectual Property Office (Commissioner: Ko, Jung-sik), the number of patent applications filed in 2007 in Korea regarding original techniques related to reduction of carbon dioxide emissions is 23, which is up 53% from the year before and is four times as many as the 6 applications filed in 2001.
Meanwhile, the average yearly increase of the number of patent applications filed in Korea from 2001 to 2007 is 44.2%, which is significantly higher than 11.7%, which is the average yearly increase of patent applications filed in the U.S, Japan, Europe, etc. |
