KT Corp. said yesterday that the Patent Court ruled in its favor in cases concerning the use of logos similar to its own by an unrelated company.
Sanrio Co., the Japanese company that makes branded characters including Hello Kitty, had been using a heart-shaped logo with the letters K and T written in the middle.
According to the telecom giant, the court ruled that the use of a well known brand of another company or its abbreviation cannot be recognized as an independent logo and ruled the registration of concerned logos null.
Aside from the latest case, KT won two similar cases against a construction company and a call taxi company.
