A patent management company capable of facing the foreign patent trolls will be created with government support.
This company will play the role in transferring civilian and academic patents into industrial patents while serving to face the great number of patent suits filed by international firms.
The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) commenced investment for creating this patent-management company through invention capital.
Invention capital is utilized for establishing patent-management firms.
KIPO contributed a total of KRW 25 billion to the fund of funds.
This new company is created with Intellectual Ventures, participated by Google, Intel, Sony, Apple etc., as its model.
Intellectual Ventures was founded in early 2000 by large American firms to reduce their loss to patent suits.
