South Korea, China, and Japan, the three countries that rank 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the number of patents to constitute 46% of the world¡¯s patent applications have decided to cooperate to overcome the global economic recession.
The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) held the 8th annual conference for patent office directors on 12 March.
The patent directors of the three countries agreed to pursue three simultaneous projects for increasing the patent review efficiency and decreasing application costs.
They further discussed methods and plans for generating active demands and work by utilizing patents and new technologies in order to respond to the global economic recession.
The three directors also decided to pursue a project named ¡®Automatic translation system for patent documents¡¯ among the three involved countries, while forming a ¡®Intellectual property specialists group¡¯ for discussing the patent systems.
A KIPO spokesperson explained that this agreement may promote protection of Korean patents in China. |
