The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) announced that they have decided to raise 100 corporate patent specialists by 2012 so that Korean corporations will be able to effectively respond to international patent disputes.
The subject to this training will be people dealing with patents in large, mid-sized, and small companies.
KIPO will select trainees from applicants by taking their English and patent knowledge into account.
A KIPO spokesperson explained that they will first select ten trainees this year and that the number will gradually increase so that total number can reach 100 by 2012.
The trainees will go through a month of pre-course in South Korea and three months oversees.
The first group of selected trainees this year will enroll in two months of theory and one month of practice course at the Finnegan Henderson law firm in the United States.
