According to a report made by Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), the Japanese Patent Office (JPO) is in a process of establishing a patent prosecution highway network for a group of ten countries including the United States, South Korea, Japan, Germany, United Kingdom, etc.
The goal for such a system is to accelerate the patent application process among the countries.
JPO is planning on co-hosting a conference in Copenhagen, Denmark with the Denmark Patent & Trademark Office on 19 and 20 February.
The conference will be regarding a patent prosecution highway network between ten different countries.
This attempt is an expansion of patent prosecution highways that exist between two countries.
JPO has proposed this system to the US, UK, Germany, Canada, Australia, South Korea, Singapore, Finland, etc. Patent filed by these ten countries constitute approximately 66% of the world¡¯s number of patent applications.
A KIPO spokesperson explained that nothing has been set in stone and that the specifics will be discussed at the Denmark conference. |
