Samsung Electronics sued Eastman Kodak, Wednesday, accusing it of infringing on two Samsung patented technologies related to digital camera phones.
"We have sued Kodak," a Samsung spokeswoman told The Korea Times.
"We've asked the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) to block the sales of Eastman Kodak's digital cameras," she added.
Kodak in November filed a complaint to the ITC, alleging mobile phones and other wireless devices by Samsung and home rival LG Electronics infringed on patented Kodak technology.
"Kodak has increasingly turned to its patent portfolio in search of profits amid deteriorating cash balances," the spokeswoman said.
Kodak is known to receive between $250 million and $350 million a year in royalties from its intellectual-property portfolio. It reported a loss from continuing operations of $205 million for 2007 on sales of $10.3 billion.
Samsung officials said it plans to respond actively to the litigation and will remain committed to serving its customers by ensuring that reliable delivery of its products is not compromised any way. |
