The Seoul High Court ruled in favor of LG Display, stating that a Japanese ex-employee of LG Display, Danaka Sakashi, must transfer the rights to patents registered under his name to LG Display.
Mr. Sakashi served as a technical adviser to LG Display from 1991 to 1998. He registered a patent under his name based on the technology and knowledge he acquired during his employment at LG Display.
LG Display ruled that their technology has been emanated through Mr. Sakashi’s patent registration and filed suit against Mr. Sakashi in 2006.
An LG Display spokesperson stated that the ruling was a fair decision, protecting the intellectual property of a corporation.
